Description
Worldwide, people are living longer than ever. The world is experiencing growth in both the size and the proportion of older adults in the population. According to the World Health Organization, by 2030, 1 in 6 people in the world will be aged 60 years or older. The number of persons aged 80 years or older is expected to triple by 2050. As the population ages, it is imperative that health care providers understand the unique principles and challenges involved in the care of older adult patients. This Beyond the Classroom setting will explore age-related changes in body composition and function, identify medications that are potentially inappropriate for use in older adults, and explore drug-drug interactions that should be avoided in older adults. As with all ‘Beyond the Classroom’ discussions, participants will be able to interact directly with expert panelists in real time.
