This session is part of the non-opioid module, which explores the plethora of non-opioid options for pain management. This session seeks to explore the data behind non-pharmacologic pain management options, including exercise therapies, chiropractic therapies, massage, and the host of other therapies that may be used adjunctively.

1. Identify appropriate patient recommendations and explanations for active non-pharmacological treatment options including psychotherapy, mind-body therapy, various distinct types of exercise, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

2. Recognize appropriate patient recommendations and explanations for passive non-pharmacological treatment options including nutrition, heat/cold, TENs/EMS devices, hyperbaric oxygen, spinal manipulation (chiropractory), massage, ultrasound, paraffin wax, infrared light, spinal traction, and acupuncture.

3. Differentiate patient specific recommendations for active and passive non-pharmacological treatment recommendations and recall the importance of diverse pain treatment plans.
