Description
Many years ago, the GI section of the pharmacy was one of the simplest. There were a variety of antacid therapies, and not much else. However, when the Histamine blockers and proton pump inhibitors moved out front, suddenly the pharmacy had some very efficacious acid-blocking therapies. The question is now: are patients even qualified to make such a therapeutic judgement to use these very potent medications? In this unit, these therapies will be explored along with their sometimes-deadly side effects. This program will also discuss nausea and vomiting and how, although usually self-limiting, these untreated conditions can cause serious illness.
